These two paintings examine the transformation and persistence of form over time. Figure 01 draws inspiration from an ancient representation of Christ, whose features have gradually faded through the effects of time, to the point of evoking an almost dehumanized figure. Through this spectral face, reminiscent of an altered icon, the work questions memory, erasure, and the way images endure even as they disappear.
K-Way, on the other hand, revisits Roman statuary by transposing the classical drapery into a contemporary aesthetic. Borrowing from the visual language of technical clothing, the painting plays on the contrast between tradition and modernity, between the permanence of marble and the fleeting nature of synthetic materials. Through their respective approaches to portraiture and drapery, these works explore how symbols and forms travel, transform, and adapt to new contexts.

Ces deux peintures interrogent la transformation et la persistance des formes à travers le temps. Figure 01 s’inspire d’une représentation ancienne du Christ, dont les traits se sont effacés sous l’effet du temps, jusqu’à évoquer une figure presque déshumanisée. Par ce visage spectral, proche d’une icône altérée, l’œuvre questionne la mémoire, l’effacement et la manière dont l’image survit à sa propre disparition.
K-Way, quant à elle, revisite la statuaire romaine en transposant le drapé antique dans une esthétique contemporaine. En empruntant à l’imagerie du vêtement technique, la peinture joue sur le contraste entre tradition et modernité, entre la pérennité du marbre et la fugacité des matières synthétiques. Ces œuvres, à travers leur approche du portrait et du drapé, explorent la façon dont les symboles et les formes voyagent, se transforment et s’adaptent à de nouveaux contextes.
